Self-hosting

Free accounting for your Estonian company — the ledger you own.

Tasur runs on the same open engine as its managed service. Download it and run it on your own server, free, forever, under the AGPL licence. No account, no card, no call.

One-click server: download one file, run it.

A single file runs the complete server on your own computer — the accounting engine, the web application and a local database. No Docker, and on Windows no command line. On first run it creates a set of starter books and opens in your browser. The server binary is published under the SAE Books brand; the Tasur desktop application below connects to it and finds a server running on the same computer by itself.

chmod +x SAEBooks-linux-x86_64 && ./SAEBooks-linux-x86_64

Verify your download against the published checksums. The macOS server build for Apple Silicon is the button above. It is an unsigned beta build. On the first run, clear the download flag with xattr, or open it with a right-click and then Open.

Prefer a desktop application?

The same free community edition, packaged as a desktop application. Download, make it executable, double click. On first run it offers the books on this computer or a connection to your own server.

Verify your download against the published checksums. The macOS build is a version 0.4 universal disk image for both Apple Silicon and Intel computers. The Windows and macOS builds are unsigned beta builds: Windows SmartScreen warns on first launch (choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”), and on macOS open the app the first time with right-click → Open. All releases and checksums are published on GitHub.

Install with one command

This starts the community edition: the engine, the web application and a local database, all in one container. It opens on port 18960.

After it starts

  1. Open the address shown after the command finishes, and sign in with the default account shown on screen.
  2. Change the default password immediately — it is meant to be changed on first login, not kept.
  3. Create your company and choose Estonia as its jurisdiction. The Estonian chart of accounts (et-gaap) and the KMD/TSD groundwork are already in the engine.
  4. The getting-started guide continues from that point.

What this is

  • A complete general ledger. Invoices, bills, expenses, bank reconciliation and reports — the same ledger the managed service runs.
  • Open source under the AGPL licence. Read the code, audit it, change it.
  • Your data, on your server. Nothing phones home; nothing is held hostage.
  • Beta software, in active development. Real, but not finished.

What this is not, yet

  • The KMD and TSD returns are not filed for you automatically. Tasur prepares the file, and you upload it yourself under your own e-MTA login.
  • This is not a managed service. Nobody backs it up, updates it or supports it but you. For that, the paid tiers exist.
  • The Estonian screens are still arriving. Some labels and flows are English-first while the localisation catches up.

What you need

  • For the one-click server: a 64-bit Linux or Windows computer. For the Docker path: Docker and Docker Compose.
  • About 5 minutes and one terminal window.

Would rather not run a server?

The same engine, hosted for you in the European Union, from 15 euros per month. See the paid tiers, or read why the licence makes either choice safe.
